MEET YOUR TEACHER NICOLE

My name is Nicole Sammer and I am a highly qualified and experienced teacher of English to International Students and Business Professionals. I have been teaching English for over eighteen years and during this time have taught both here in Australia and overseas.
I have been lucky enough to teach in a number of settings: privately,
at primary and high schools, at language schools and at universities. Before establishing Sydney English Teacher in 2005, I taught English at the University of Sydney for a period of 6 years where I helped students prepare for and succeed in their university studies. There I was also given the responsibility of writing and developing language courses.

As well as being an experienced language teacher, I am a trained examiner and supervisor for the highly regarded Cambridge exams.
In addition to my role as a Cambridge examiner, I am also a highly experienced curriculum and course designer, having written many courses and teaching materials for various universities and language colleges in Australia and overseas. Since establishing Sydney English Teacher, I have also prepared and presented several seminars and workshops for both teachers and language learners on a number of topics such as “Preparing for the IELTS Exam” and “Teaching Elementary Language Learners.”

Being a native speaker of both English and German, I have also taught German in Australia and in Europe. My German teaching experience ranges from teaching primary and secondary school students and at the German Saturday School, to offering German language courses at various community colleges and private institutions.

I have always been interested in teaching and learning languages. I studied a Bachelor of Arts (German, French, English) at the University of Sydney and a Master of Teaching (Languages) at the University of Sydney. I am qualified to teach English, German, French and Japanese. As well as my university studies, I have also completed many other language/teaching courses. These have included the Cambridge RSA CELTA which specialises in the teaching of English to adults, as well as several specialist courses in teaching different language skills. I have also studied Business Management and completed studies in Language Teaching Management. As well as being a native speaker of both English and German, I am also an advanced speaker of French and intermediate speaker of Japanese. I wish to add to my language skills by studying Chinese Mandarin in the near future.

I began my own business, Sydney English Teacher, in 2005, not only due to my passion for language teaching and learning, but also due to a life-long dream to have my own language school. My aim was to offer high quality language courses to individuals and small groups in a friendly and relaxed environment, and to focus on students’ individual language needs and concerns and on reaching their goals as quickly as possible. I strive to achieve this personal goal for each of my students and am honoured to be given the opportunity to help all of my students improve their language skills and become more confident language users.

My motto for Sydney English Teacher is: ‘learn quickly and easily’ and I follow this consistently in my day-to-day teaching practices. I pride myself on offering lessons and courses which are of the highest quality and on helping my students reach their language learning goals without difficulty. For this reason, I create an individualised language course for each of my private and small group students, ensuring rapid language learning success. I also make certain that all of my students have the most enjoyable language learning experience possible and that they all become confident and competent users of the English (or German) language.
