Hi everyone. It's Nicole here answering another one of your questions.
I've had a question about the two words bring and take. This is really confusing for most people because in many languages bring and take is used the same, whereas in English, they're two completely different scenarios, completely different situations.
So, think of it as this. I’ll make it as simple as possible.
Bring is when something comes towards you, when something is coming closer and closer to you the speaker.
Whereas take is when something goes away from you, when something goes further and further away from you the speaker.
So, you might say something like ‘Can you please bring me a drink?’ ‘Can you please take this cup to the kitchen?’
In both of those situations, you are not moving, you are stationary. But the thing that you're talking about is moving either towards you or away from you. If it's coming closer to you or you're wanting it to come closer to you, in a question, then it's bring away from you, further from you, it's take.
I hope that makes sense. Definitely ask questions in the comments if you'd like more details, I’m more than happy to do a more detailed video, but I quickly wanted to answer that question, just to make it clear.
Anyway, have a lovely day, and thanks for listening. Bye!
How was the learning video? Did it help you understand the difference between bring and take and how to use them both correctly? I hope so!
Let me summarise the most important points for you to remember:
-Bring = something comes towards you, something comes closer and closer to you the speaker
-Take = something goes away from you, something goes further and further away from you the speaker
-the thing that you're talking about is moving either towards (bring) you or away from you (take)
That's all you need to know - how easy is that! I hope that this video has been helpful and enjoyable for you and I look forward to teaching you another fun grammar lesson in the near future.
Thanks for taking the time to learn with me, it is a great pleasure helping you!
:) Nicole
