Hi everyone! Thanks for joining me for another blog post! Today we will be having a lesson focussing on speaking and vocabulary development to help you express that you are not feeling well.
When you’re not feeling well, how many times do you say ‘I’M SICK’? Too many! It’s time to learn some different ways to say this overused expression in English. In this English communication lesson you will learn several practical alternative ways to express that you are sick so that you can easily become a more natural communicator, just like a native speaker.
Click on the video below to watch and learn, and read the transcript underneath to check your understanding and revise today's lesson topic. Also, at the bottom of this post, you'll find a useful summary of the most important points to remember.

Hi everyone, its Nicole here, and I'm back answering another one of your questions. I really hope that you find this one useful, I'm sure you will, and I hope that you learn some new expressions.
One of my students recently asked me ‘What is another way of saying I'm sick, or I'm not feeling well?’ because at work she doesn't really want to tell people I'm sick or go into great detail, so she wanted some alternative expressions for this, and I thought this was really really good topic for all of you as well. So are you ready for a few alternatives? Let's do it!
So, obviously we could say I'M NOT FEELING WELL, we could also say I'M A LITTLE OFF, have you heard of that before? That's a good one. Y
eah, or I'M A LITTLE UNDER THE WEATHER, that's a great one, we say that in Australia quite often, I'M NOT MYSELF TODAY, or I'M NOT QUITE MYSELF TODAY, alternatively, I FEEL SICK, yeah, sure, or I'M REALLY UNWELL, or I DON’T FEEL QUITE RIGHT or we could say I DON’T FEEL VERY WELL or I THINK I’M GOING TO BE SICK, this is when you're about to vomit, about to throw up, so, just in case you say that, that's the meaning behind it.
I'M NOT MY USUAL HAPPY SELF TODAY or I'M SICK AS A DOG, that's a really funny one, or I THINK I’VE COME DOWN WITH SOMETHING, that's really when you realise that you're sick, and you say to someone ‘Oooh, I actually think I'm sick’ or I'M NOT DOING TOO WELL TODAY.
So, there's a few alternative ways of saying I'm not feeling well, I'm sick. So, the next time you're not 100%, you're not yourself, you're not fit and healthy, and happy and smiley, come back to this video, and use some of these great expressions to tell people that you're not 100%.
Anyway, I hope that helped. Have a wonderful day, and most importantly, stay healthy! Bye everyone.
